Cooked and plated pepperoni pizza roll-ups.

Often, I am so busy with running errands, cleaning, and corralling a toddler that dinner time sneaks up on me. My hungry toddler becomes hangry and won’t wait for me to cook an entire meal. I am faced with giving my child frozen dinos and a veggie cup and still having to make something for my husband and I. These quick and easy Air Fryer Pizza Roll-ups are perfect for the whole family and will save you a ton of time cooking. You can pair them with a salad and buffalo wings. You can use them as a party appetizer or even as a snack.

If your tot is like mine, he always wants to help in the kitchen. This is the prefect recipe to get the kiddos involved, they can make the sauce and assemble these fun finger foods. (Please always supervise children in the kitchen to prevent injury and ensure proper safety practices.)

These pizza roll-ups are versatile, and you can change up the sauce, meat, and cheese to whatever suits your fancy for the day. You can use ham and cheddar cheese with a bit of mustard if you want a more sandwich feel. Looking for a tailgate or Super Bowl variation? Try shredded or canned chicken tossed in buffalo sauce and cheddar cheese and dunk them in ranch or blue cheese dressing. The possibilities are endless.

*Quick Tip:

Since I know you’re on a time crunch, just like me, let’s get you cooking! You can do a lot with this recipe to speed up the process. I had some left-over tomato sauce that I doctored up with some Italian spices, but you can use a small jar of spaghetti sauce instead. Another time saver is to buy shredded cheese. Doing this will also save you in the clean-up process.

Recipe ingredients: pepper jack cheese, salt, oregano, garlic powder, black pepper, onion powder, basil leaves (crushed), 8 count of crescent rolls, pepperoni, tomato sauce
Not pictured optional toppings: Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese

Step-By-Step Instructions

Step 1:

If you are using pre-made spaghetti sauce, you can gloss right over this step and move to step 2. To make the spaghetti sauce for the inside of your pizza roll-ups you will need to combine the ½ tsp garlic powder, ¼ tsp onion powder, ¼ tsp pepper, 1 Tbsp oregano, salt to taste, and ½ cup tomato sauce.

Step 2:

Next, let’s talk about cheese. You can use any cheese you would like. I didn’t have mozzarella on hand when I decided to make these, but I did have pepper jack cheese. This cheese melts similarly to mozzarella but it gives a little spicy punch to these pizza roll-ups. You can use shredded cheese or sliced cheese cut on a diagonal to save some time and clean up.

*Quick Tip:

Create an assembly line with all your ingredients to help you put these roll-ups together quickly. Line up your sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and toppings (if using them: olive oil spray, Italian seasoning, and parmesan cheese) so you can throw these together in a jiff.

Step 3:

Open your crescent rolls and gently tear them apart. On a clean surface, lay them out with some space in between. Now that you have your crescent rolls laid out, you can assemble your pizza roll-ups.

Step 4:

Layer your pizza roll-ups by adding about 1 Tbsp of sauce, topped with about 2 Tbsp of shredded cheese (or half a slice of cheese) and 3 slices of pepperoni. Once all your crescent rolls have been assembled, roll each of them up.

One raw crescent dough with marinara sauce, shredded pepper jack cheese and three pepperoni slices.

Step 5:

If you are not adding additional toppings to your pizza roll-ups, you can skip to Step 6. To add your toppings, lightly spray all the prepared pizza roll-ups with olive oil, then sprinkle with Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese to your liking.

Eight pizza roll-ups topped with Italian seasoning and parmesan cheese on parchment paper on a baking tray.

Before adding your pizza roll-ups to your air fryer, be sure to spray the tray with your choice of cooking oil (I used olive oil). Then place four pizza roll-ups in your air fryer to avoid overcrowding, this is perfect for a 4-quart air fryer. The air fryer I use can be found here. If you have a larger air fryer you can add more roll-ups, just be sure to leave space between each one to allow the air to circulate. Also, the pizza roll-ups will puff up and you do not want them stuck together.

Step 6:

Air fryer set to 300°F for 6 minutes to cook pizza roll-ups.

Now we’re cooking! No need to pre-heat your air fryer. Place your air fryer tray with pizza roll-ups in your air fryer and cook at 300°F for 6 min. After this cycle, flip your pizza roll-ups over and cook at 300°F for another 4 min. Remove the yummy pizza roll-ups from the air fryer and repeat for the next batch. Presto, you’re done!
